The difference a new harness tester made in our shop is wild

We used to use this old beat-up multimeter from 2015 for all our continuity checks on Cessna 172 harnesses. After we switched to a proper automated tester last month, we found 3 bad pins in the first week that we would have missed before. Has anyone else seen that kind of jump in catch rates after upgrading gear?

Same thing happened when we upgraded our test rig last year.

Actually heard a shop foreman at a regional maintenance conference say the same thing last spring. He claimed their false negative rate dropped almost 70 percent just from swapping out their old Fluke for an automated rig. It makes sense I guess, since the old gear just can't catch intermittent stuff that pops up under load.

Oh wow, that's a pretty wild improvement, isn't it? I'm glad it worked out so well for you guys too, it really makes a difference when the equipment actually catches what's going on.
