Warning: Old A&P told me my wire ties were backwards and I've never forgotten it
Happened at a hangar in Amarillo about 4 years back. This crusty old guy, must have been 60. Walked past my workbench. Pointed at my mil-spec ties. Said "son, you're feeding the tension wrong. That loop will crack in a year." He showed me the proper tool angle. Been doing it his way ever since. Anyone else get a random tip from an old timer that stuck?

Man, I feel this. I spent like a decade putting doorknobs on backwards before my grandpa finally saw me struggling and just sighed real heavy. Turns out the whole "screw goes this way" thing matters more than I thought. Now I gotta go check every knob in my house and pretend I knew all along.
