Appreciation post: my dead 4x8 patch of clay turned into actual grass in 6 weeks thanks to $40 of compost and a pitchfork

I aerated by hand, dumped cheap compost on top, and watered every other day, and now my dog refuses to pee on anything else, so has anyone here actually kept a lawn alive with zero sprinklers?
