Built a 4x8 raised bed in my Louisville yard and the $60 I spent on a soil test saved the whole thing
Dropped off two cups of dirt at the county extension office back in April, mostly out of boredom. Turns out my soil was sitting at 5.1 pH, which explains why my tomatoes limped along for two summers while the weeds partied. I mixed in about 40 pounds of lime and a yard of compost, and the peppers I pulled out in August were the size of softballs. Anybody else test first, or do you all just dump bags of stuff in and hope for the best?
