Heard a guy at the nursery say he never waters his lawn
I was grabbing some soil last Saturday and this older guy was telling the cashier he hasn't watered his grass in 3 years. He just lets it go dormant and it bounces back after rain. I've been dumping water on mine every other day like clockwork. Has anyone else tried this or is he just lucky with his grass type?

Yeah, that "just goes dormant and bounces back" part is exactly what happens with most cool season grasses. I stopped watering mine like three summers ago after noticing the neighbors lawn looked just as good as mine after a big rain. The trick is you have to let it go fully brown and crispy before it really goes into that deep sleep. If you water just a little bit here and there you mess up the dormancy cycle and it actually hurts the grass more. Once the rain comes back it greens up in like a week.
