I finally picked cedar over pressure-treated for my raised beds
Spent a whole weekend debating between cedar at $120 per bed versus the $45 pressure-treated option for my veggie garden in Portland. Decided to go with cedar because I heard the chemicals in pressure-treated can leach into soil and ruin your vegetables. Now half my tomato plants are turning yellow and I'm wondering if I should have just gone with the cheaper stuff after all - has anyone else dealt with this?

Oh man, I read somewhere that soil pH can mess with tomato plants even without chemicals, so it might not be the bed.

Yeah I heard from a gardening buddy that cedar can sometimes mess with the pH in the soil, making it harder for tomatoes to take up nutrients... might not be the wood's fault at all.
