I went with decomposed granite instead of pavers for my patio and honestly I think it was the right call

After watching my buddy's paver patio sink unevenly within 6 months from all the rain here in Portland, I spent $80 on crushed granite and a plate compactor rental and after a full year it still drains perfectly and doesn't have a single weed poking through, has anyone else ditched hardscaping for a permeable surface?

Wait, doesn't all that loose stuff just get kicked around and end up looking like a mess after a season or two of bad weather? I've seen DG patios that turned into a dusty, uneven disaster zone within a year compared to pavers that just need a little sand sweep.

Oh man @victor_robinson, you're not wrong! DG is a total gamble with weather.
