That 2am stump grinding mistake in my backyard near Austin

I hit a buried sprinkler head I forgot I laid down 4 years ago, got soaked head to toe while the grinder chewed through the line, and had to spend the whole next Saturday digging up 30 feet of PVC to reroute it, has anyone else ever marked their yard for projects and still missed something obvious?

Three years ago I would've told you I've got my yard memorized like the back of my hand, but last spring I spent a whole afternoon pulling up my own drip line I'd put in two seasons before that. I had a map on my phone and everything, but that lilac bush had grown so much it covered the valve box completely, so I dug straight into it with a post hole digger. Now I walk the whole perimeter with a metal probe before I even think about sticking anything in the ground, and I still managed to clip a cable line last month that wasn't on any of my drawings.

At this point my yard is basically a crime scene and I'm the detective who keeps losing the evidence. Bought one of those fancy cable locators after the third time I hit something I didn't know was there. Still managed to cut through my own sprinkler wire last week because the dog had buried a bone right on top of it and I was too busy yelling at him to pay attention. My neighbor now watches me from his porch like I'm starring in a slow motion disaster movie. He's not wrong.
