Blew $600 on a fancy pergola kit from the big box store and it sagged in 4 months

Last spring I grabbed one of those metal pergola kits for $600 thinking it would save me from building one from scratch. Spent a whole Saturday putting it together with my brother in law, only to watch the cross beams sag by August after a few windy days here in Wichita. Turns out the posts were hollow and the anchors were junk, so I ended up sinking another $250 into concrete and brackets just to keep it standing. Should have just framed it with cedar 4x4s from the lumber yard for about the same money. Anyone else had a kit like this fall apart, or did I just get a bad one?
