Hit 500 square feet of flagstone and it felt like a real milestone
Honestly, I've been working on my backyard patio for the past 3 months, and I finally laid the 500th square foot of flagstone last weekend. I picked up the stone from a local yard in Portland, and it cost me about $1,200 total. Seeing that number made me realize how much time and effort this project really takes. Has anyone else tracked their square footage and been surprised by the total?

$1,200 for 500 square feet? That's way cheaper than I would have guessed.

Oh wow, that actually lines up with what I've noticed too. Rents in mid-sized cities have been creeping up fast, I think people just don't realize how much the market has shifted since 2020. It's like everyone moved to places they could afford, and then those places got expensive too.

Ngl, that actually makes me think about how we don't really notice big accomplishments until we actually write them down or measure them. Tbh the same thing happened to me when I started tracking my grocery spending a few years back. I was shocked at how much money was just disappearing into random snacks and fast food runs. The square footage thing is like that too, you don't realize how far you've come until you put a number on it. Honestly it's kind of wild how our brains need those concrete markers to feel proud of what we've done.
