My $200 paver patio sank after one rainstorm

I laid a paver patio in my backyard in Austin last month and after a heavy rain the whole thing sank about 2 inches. Turns out I skipped putting down a gravel base and just used sand like a dummy. Anyone know if I can just lift the pavers and add gravel underneath without starting completely over?

Yeah that sucks dude. Just pull em up and toss some gravel in there, you'll be fine.

Nah, gravel's a bandaid fix unless you pack it tight and use fabric underneath.

@joel_clark37 is right on the money here. Sand alone is like building a castle on a beach (it's gonna sink). Gravel needs proper compaction and fabric underneath or you'll be back here next month with the same problem. Pulling up the pavers without fixing the base is just a waste of time.
