Paid $900 for French drains, or DIY'd them. Which one was dumber?
I spent 5 weekends digging 80 feet of trench by hand for French drains in my side yard. The water still pools after heavy rain because I put the gravel in wrong. My neighbor paid a crew $900 and they finished in two days with zero issues. So which side do y'all land on, paying for pros or sweating it out yourself? I'm leaning toward hiring out next time but the cost stings. Has anyone else botched a drainage job this bad and gone back to fix it properly?
