That cheap paver sand trap cost me $400 in driveway repairs

Used regular play sand under my patio pavers last spring and it washed out in the first heavy rain, shifting everything and cracking my concrete apron. I should've spent the extra $1.50 a bag on polymeric sand with the locking additive, has anyone else learned this the hard way?

Real talk, that $400 is a cheap lesson compared to what it could cost. You gotta think about how the sand is the only thing holding all those pavers in place, and regular play sand just turns into mud the second water gets under it. Just this weekend I saw a guy's whole patio shift a full inch after one storm, and he'd used the exact same cheap stuff.
