That one perfect weekend in late September after 14 straight rainy days

We finally hit a dry stretch last month in Portland, so I pushed through three days of hardscaping a small flagstone path and a fire pit ring, working from 7am to noon before the heat got me. By Sunday evening I sat on a cheap folding chair with a cold drink and watched the light hit the stones just right, and it felt like every sore muscle was worth it. Has anyone else had a job that only felt worth it after the last rock was set?
