TIL I was watering my new sod wrong for a month straight
I was just hosing it down quick every morning, but the guy at the garden center said I needed to soak it deep for 45 minutes, just twice a week, to get the roots to grow down. Anyone else have a watering schedule that actually worked?

My buddy did the same thing with his new lawn... just a quick sprinkle every day. It turned all yellow and patchy after a few weeks. The sod guy told him he was basically just wetting the dust on top. He switched to a long, deep soak twice a week and you could see the difference in a month. The grass got way greener and stopped dying every time it got a little hot.

Ugh, that's exactly what happened to my first lawn! @gibson.avery is right, deep watering makes the roots grow down to find water instead of staying weak at the surface.

Totally thought daily sprinkles were the way to go. @ruby_jones and your buddy proved that wrong. Deep watering twice a week saved my lawn too.
