Unpopular opinion: The 'two-day' concrete pour for my patio slab turned into a full week of rain delays and a $200 tarp bill.

I spent more time checking the weather app and moving plastic sheeting than actually working, and now I'm asking if anyone has a good method for drying out soaked gravel before you can even think about pouring.

Remember my buddy's tarp that just pooled the water?

That propane torch idea is wild. Honestly, I'd just wait it out, more raking sounds like less of a fire hazard.

That "soaked gravel" part is the worst. I've had luck with a garden rake, just turning it over every few hours when the sun's out. It takes forever but it works.

My uncle's driveway in Vermont is all gravel. After a thaw, it turns into a total sponge. He got so fed up he rented a big propane torch one spring. Just slowly waved it over the surface. Smelled awful, but it dried out a huge patch in an afternoon. Way faster than raking.
