Lost 8 pages of my short story when my laptop died at a coffee shop in Boise
I was sitting at a coffee shop in Boise last Tuesday when my laptop just shut off with no warning. Eight pages of a short story I had been working on for 3 weeks were gone because I never saved once. I sat there for a minute feeling dumb, then I ordered another drip coffee and rewrote the whole thing from memory on my phone. The weird part is the phone version ended up tighter and less wordy than what I lost. Does anyone else secretly think their panic rewrites turn out better than the careful ones?
