Vent: my outline on a pizza box made more sense than 3 days of trying to write on my laptop
Last week I got stuck on the opening scene of a short story about a guy who inherits his dad's broken-down truck, so out of spite I scribbled the whole thing on the back of a Luigi's pizza box at my kitchen table in Columbus. The scribble version had real voice and a decent hook, while my laptop draft from 3 days of trying sounded like a school essay with the fun sucked out. Is it weird that greasy cardboard beat a clean screen, or does anyone else write better when they know nobody will ever read the draft?
