Wrote off The Room as a joke for 8 years, then watched it with my film professor uncle in Boston
I always figured The Room was just a so bad it's funny meme that people posted clips of online, nothing more. My uncle teaches film at BU and made me sit through the whole thing with him back in March, pausing every 10 minutes to point out how Wiseau frames shots and blocks scenes. By the end I actually got it. The movie is dead serious about being a drama, and that total lack of irony is what makes it work as accidental art. Anyone else have a movie they only came around on after someone walked them through it?
