Hot take: Hand washing dishes is actually faster than using a dishwasher for small loads
I used to defend my dishwasher like it was family, but after living alone for 6 months in a tiny apartment, I timed myself washing 3 plates and 2 cups in 4 minutes versus the dishwasher's 90 minute cycle. The sink method also saved me about $15 a month on electricity and detergent. Has anyone else ditched their dishwasher for everyday stuff?

Is saving 15 bucks a month really gonna change your life though? I mean yeah it's faster but it feels like we're arguing over pennies and minutes.

convinces me we romanticize anything that takes longer as being better somehow

The whole "slow is better" thing makes me think of pour over coffee. People act like it's this sacred ritual but really you're just waiting for water to drip through some grounds. Same thing with bread that takes three days to rise. It's good but is it really better than a loaf from the bakery? We just like feeling like we earned something by waiting for it, even if the outcome is basically the same. Do you think that applies to most things or just certain stuff?
