Overheard a guy say he never cleans his dryer lint trap
He claimed it builds up enough to act as a filter and save energy. Has anyone else heard this myth, or am I just surrounded by fire hazards waiting to happen?

Oh man, I had a roommate who thought the same thing! I about lost my mind when I found out he hadn't cleaned it in like six months. Told him he was basically asking for a house fire every time he ran the dryer.

Wait, you're saying people actually go months without cleaning that? I'll admit I used to just let it pile up until I noticed it was getting full, but hearing about the fire risk changed my mind. Now I make sure to clean it after every load just to be safe.
