Realized I was loading my dishwasher wrong for like 7 years
I thought you had to rinse every dish before putting it in, scrubbing off every bit of food. Turns out my new apartment's manual says the sensors actually work better with some gunk on them. So I wasted about 15 minutes per load for 7 years, which is like 500 hours of my life. My water bill was also higher from pre-rinsing everything. Has anyone else been doing this wrong and only found out through a random manual read?

Pre rinsing is just a way to make sure you're paying for the privilege of watching your dishes get clean.

Is it really that serious though? Like, yeah, it's a minor hassle to scrape a plate before you load it, but getting bent out of shape over a few seconds of effort seems like picking a weird hill. I just take a second to knock the big chunks off because I don't want my dishwasher filter clogged up. It's not like I'm hand washing everything, just a quick swipe. The machine still does the heavy lifting, and my dishes come out clean. Feels like some people are just looking for something to complain about.
