The $15 kitchen timer that schooled my fancy smart speaker

I spent forever tweaking my smart speaker timers for baking, but voice commands kept failing mid-flour. Last Sunday I grabbed a cheap analog dial timer from a hardware store in Portland for 15 bucks, and it just works every single time. The physical click when I spin it to 12 minutes is oddly satisfying, and I can see my progress without touching anything crusty. I used to think smart tech made everything better, but for this one job, the dumb tool wins. Has anyone else ditched a high-tech gadget for the plain version and felt relieved about it?
