The 5 AM spreadsheet my brother sent made me eat crow on budgeting apps

I spent 4 years telling anyone who would listen that budgeting apps were just guilt machines for people who can't do math. My brother in Denver sent me a shared spreadsheet last month with every dollar he'd spent since January, color coded by category. At first I laughed at the effort, but then I actually looked at my own account and realized I'd dropped $380 on coffee runs without noticing. He wasn't trying to convert me, he just wanted to show me where his money went after his car died. Has anyone else been proven dead wrong by a family member's boring habit? What made you finally cave?

Ugh, $380 on coffee is brutal. My sister once showed me her savings tracker and I had to sit down, it was like looking at a mirror that also judged my takeout habit. I still don't use the app, but I do feel personally attacked by my own bank statement now.
