The guy who told me to quit stretching before installs was right

A retired tile setter in Denver told me my warmup stretches were killing my back on concrete subfloors, so I dropped them six months ago and the pain actually went away. Turns out I was activating muscles that did nothing for kneeling all day and just tired me out before the real work started. Has anyone else dumped some standard advice only to find the opposite works better for their specific setup?
