Unpopular opinion: the 'no pain, no gain' rule killed my ankle for 6 weeks
I used to think stretching before a run was a waste of time, like something for gym class, not real athletes. Then I ignored a tight calf for three weeks and ended up limping through a 5K in Portland, and my doctor said I had a strain because I never warmed up properly. Desperate, I tried this app called StretchIt that forces you to hold poses for two minutes each, and honestly, it felt dumb at first, but after four days my ankle loosened up way faster than any ice or rest did. Now I just do ten minutes of dynamic stretches like leg swings and lunges before any run, and I haven't had a twinge since. Has anyone else found that the old-school 'grind it out' mindset was actually the thing holding back their recovery, or am I just a slow learner?

Stretching now feels like admitting my 20s were a lie, and my knees agree.
