My aunt's old bread recipe had a huge mistake I never caught
My aunt gave me her famous white bread recipe like 10 years ago and I've been making it ever since. Last month I was over at her house and she was baking and I noticed she added way more salt than what she wrote down for me. I asked her about it and she laughed and said she must have written it wrong because she always just eyeballs salt. So I tried her version with double the salt and honestly the bread is so much better now. It actually has flavor instead of just tasting like flour and yeast. The texture is nicer too, less dense and crumbly. I feel dumb for not questioning that recipe sooner though because I've been eating bland bread for a whole decade. Has anyone else found a major typo or mistake in a family recipe that changed the final product?

My buddy found his grandma's cookie recipe had the wrong oven temp. It said 350 but she always baked them at 400. He made them his whole life thinking they were supposed to be pale and soft. First batch at 400 turned into these perfect crispy edged cookies he'd never had before. He was mad for weeks about all those years of sad cookies.
