My buttercream turned to soup at the Denver farmers market

I was setting up my stall last Saturday and the heat hit 90 degrees by 10am. My whole batch of Swiss meringue buttercream just melted into a greasy puddle in the bowl. I ended up putting the mixing bowl over a cooler of ice and re-whipping it for like 15 minutes to bring it back. Has anyone else saved a frosting disaster in hot weather?

Oh man, that "greasy puddle" line hit me hard... I had a whole tiered cake start to slide apart at an outdoor birthday party once. Ended up doing the same ice bowl trick in a panic, holding the mixer bowl over a sink full of ice water. It's a total race against time.

My kitchen sink has seen more frosting emergencies than dishes lately.

Remember my friend's wedding cake that slid like @ivanscott described?

I always thought you just had to start over, but that ice trick is a total game changer.
