Pro tip: I switched from a plastic bowl to a ceramic one for my sourdough starter about 3 weeks ago.

The rise time got cut by almost an hour and the crumb structure is way more even, which makes me think the temperature was more stable, so has anyone else noticed a big change from just switching your starter's container?

It's funny how the smallest things can make a big difference. I switched my houseplants from plastic to terracotta pots and they stopped getting root rot because the clay breathes better. My coffee stays hot longer in a ceramic mug than a travel cup. Materials really do change how things hold heat or air, even if we don't always notice it at first.

Wow, I read something similar about glass jars helping with temperature swings.

Oh totally! I keep my sourdough starter in a big glass jar now and it doesn't go crazy bubbly overnight like it did in my plastic tub. The temperature in my kitchen used to make it go wild.
