Update: the $12 starter jar versus the old crock sitting in my mom's basement

Kept my grandma's cracked crock going for 2 more months out of guilt, but when I finally switched to a cheap glass jar with a loose lid my starter doubled in 5 days, so now I'm wondering what old tools the rest of you are holding onto way past when they stopped working.
