Warning: that cheap bulk flour ruined my bread for weeks
I bought a 50-pound bag of flour from a discount store for $12 and it had a weird smell I didn't notice until I baked. Gave my sourdough a musty taste and I wasted 4 batches before I figured it out. Has anyone else gotten burned by bargain flour like this?

Wait, was the bag actually labeled as "bread flour" or just all-purpose? I've seen people grab "general purpose flour" on the cheap and that stuff can have a real off smell from sitting in a warehouse too long.
