My $35 kitchen scale was a total game changer until I forgot to switch it from ounces to grams
I was so proud of my perfect macarons, all thanks to finally weighing ingredients instead of using cups. Then last weekend I made a batch of shortbread and wondered why the dough looked like wet sand. Turns out I'd measured 200 grams of flour as 200 ounces. Has anyone else bricked a recipe with a simple unit mistake?

Oh noooo that's the worst lol. I've totally done something similar with my scale, but with salt. Ruined a whole pot of soup because I mixed up grams and ounces. It's such a sinking feeling when you realize what went wrong.

Blame the recipe writers who refuse to pick a side. They'll list "1 cup or 240ml" but then switch to "2 ounces or 55 grams" in the next line. That back-and-forth is what causes the mental slip when you're tired.

Did she at least manage to save part of the soup? A friend of mine once doubled a batch of cookie dough because she misread "2 cups" as "4 cups" on her digital scale. She ended up with enough dough to feed a small army, and her husband was not thrilled about eating cookies for a week straight.
