My cousin said her best bakes come from her worst fails
We were talking about my rock-hard sourdough from last month, and she told me 'Every brick loaf teaches you something the perfect one can't.' That stuck with me because I realized I learn more from my flat cakes than my fluffy ones. Anyone else have a fail that actually taught you a solid lesson?

My 3rd burnt pie crust taught me to actually set a timer.

Ugh, @kimr74, I feel that. Been there with pizza rolls. Do you use your phone timer or a real one? I got a cheap magnetic timer for the stove after my own disasters. It's way louder than my phone, so I hear it over the TV. I also set it for a few minutes less than the recipe says, just to check.
