Saw a bakery in Asheville pipe frosting with a ketchup bottle and I tried it at home
I was in Asheville two weekends ago and stopped into a tiny bakery near the river arts district. The owner was piping buttercream flowers onto cupcakes using a plain squeeze bottle, the kind you'd put ketchup in, and she said she switched 3 years ago and never looked back. I asked why and she said the bags kept bursting on her and cleaning tips was eating up 20 minutes every morning. So I tried it on my own batch of chocolate cupcakes yesterday and honestly the control was better than my piping bag. The only issue is my hand got tired after about 12 cupcakes because the plastic is stiff. Has anyone else used a squeeze bottle for frosting, and do the softer ones work better or do they just split at the seam?
