That critic who said my cookies were too flat finally made me measure my butter properly
I always just eyeballed my butter for cookies because I thought it was close enough. Someone in my baking group pointed out that even 2 tablespoons too much butter can flatten an entire batch. I started weighing my butter on a scale last month and my cookies actually hold their shape now. Has anyone else had a simple measurement fix change their whole bake?

Did you also have that moment where your dough looked like soup and you just pretended it was intentional?

Wait, you actually told people it was intentional? That's wild. I just stared at my soupy mess and told my wife I was "taking a break" from baking because the dough was "resting." Meanwhile it was just sitting there looking like a crime scene. I can't believe you pulled that off with a straight face.

My first sourdough looked less like dough and more like a weird beige puddle. I just told everyone I was "experimenting with hydration.

Have you ever watched that show where the baker weighs everything in grams and swears that's the only way? Tbh that convinced me to get a digital scale and my cookies have been perfect ever since.
