Got hit with a hidden fee on a wire transfer last week - $45 for nothing

I sent $800 to my landlord through my bank's online portal last Tuesday. Three days later the money still hadn't showed up and they charged me $45 for a "processing fee" they buried in the fine print. Called the branch and the teller just said sorry, that's our policy. Has anyone else had luck getting these fees reversed or should I just switch to a credit union?

Call your bank back and ask for a supervisor, not just the front line teller. I had a similar thing happen with a $35 fee on a domestic transfer last year, and I basically told them I'd switch banks if they didn't reverse it. They put me on hold for ten minutes then credited it back. The trick is to be firm but not rude, and mention you're a long time customer. Also, double check if they have a fee schedule posted online, some banks sneak these in under "expedited transfer" or "same day processing" even if you didn't ask for anything special.

Ha! @max_torres44 that dog story sounds like a total disaster.

Betty_kelly9's advice reminds me when my dog ate my debit card right before rent was due.
