Hit $12,000 in unnoticed overdraft fees across my accounts last year

I was so focused on my monthly payments I ignored the little $35 charges stacking up until my bank statement showed over twelve grand in fees that could've been avoided with a simple alert setup - has anyone else gotten blindsided by their own bank's auto-debit system?

That's just how banks quietly profit off people being busy.

That's just how banks quietly profit off people being busy" really hits home, @marywilson. My friend Sarah found that out the hard way. She had a credit card with a low rate that jumped to 25% after she missed a payment while her mom was in the hospital. She paid it off in full the next month, but the bank still charged her interest like the higher rate was normal. It took her two calls and a formal complaint to get them to reverse it. They count on people not having time to fight back.
