I thought tap-to-pay on my phone was just a gimmick until my card got cloned at a gas pump in Toledo.

But what about when your phone dies or the reader is broken? I've been stuck twice because I only had my phone and the tap didn't work... had to borrow cash from a friend. It just feels like putting all your trust in one battery-powered device.

Toledo gas pumps are basically card cloning factories. Tap to pay went from gimmick to lifesaver real quick.

My card got skimmed at a grocery store ATM last year. The bank caught it after three small charges at a gas station I never go to. I switched to only using tap on my phone for everything now, and I keep my physical card locked in my banking app. It's annoying to unlock it for the rare time I need the number, but it beats dealing with fraud alerts again.
