I've been manually entering my card number for online payments for like two years

I always thought the little camera icon next to the card field was just for show, or maybe for some fancy phone app I didn't have. Last week, my friend was over and saw me typing it all out for a bill. She just stared and said, 'You know you can just take a picture of your card, right?' I felt like an absolute clown. I tried it on my bank's app and it scanned the numbers perfectly in about two seconds. I've probably wasted hours of my life. Has anyone else had a total facepalm moment with a basic banking feature?

Wait, you can do that on regular websites too, not just the bank app? I only found out about the camera thing last month when my card was worn out and the numbers were hard to read. I held it up and my phone just filled everything in... I sat there stunned for a solid minute. It feels like we're living in the future and someone forgot to give me the manual.

Honestly, did you know some sites even let you pay by just taking a picture of your face now?

The part about living in the future without a manual is too real. I tried the face pay thing once and my phone just stared back at me, probably judging my pores. It took three tries and a better angle before it decided I was, in fact, a person and not a suspicious lamp.

I always thought it was a security risk, but it actually makes things way easier.
