Switched my 3 person crew from paper checks to direct deposit and I was wrong about it
I ran payroll for my 3 person landscaping crew in Boise and for 2 years I swore by paper checks because handing them out in person felt more personal. Last month my bookkeeper pointed out I was spending about 45 minutes every other Friday printing, signing, and chasing down guys who forgot to pick theirs up. After one guy's check sat in my truck for 9 days and he asked me twice where his money was, I caved and set up direct deposit through my bank. Payroll now takes me 6 minutes and nobody has asked me for anything since, so what else am I clinging to just because it feels normal?
