Call me crazy but I'll take a pellet grill over an offset smoker any day

I spent $600 on a Pit Boss pellet smoker last spring and it makes consistently great brisket without me babysitting it for 12 hours. Anyone else ditch the traditional firebox for convenience?

...and honestly, I don't blame you one bit. I got a Pit Boss last year too, the 820 model, and it changed how I think about BBQ. I've done maybe 10 briskets on it and they come out tender and juicy every time without me having to wake up at 4am to feed the fire. Sure, I get that some folks love the ritual of tending an offset, but for a working guy like me, that convenience is hard to beat. The smoke ring isn't as deep as a stick burner but the flavor is still there, and my family doesn't complain one bit.

That 820 model is actually just the 820 Pro now, they updated the controller in the newer ones. Still, your point stands - the convenience game is UNREAL compared to babysitting a fire all day.

Swapped my old propane setup for a Pit Boss and never looked back.
