I used a whole can of Dr Pepper in my pork butt braise last weekend and it came out way too sweet

Oh man, I've been there. That sugar just takes over. What saved me last time was cutting it with a ton of apple cider vinegar and some extra broth to thin it out. Sorta like what @marywilson was getting at with fixing a different problem, you gotta balance it. Let it simmer way longer to cook that sweetness down, it helps a lot.
