Overheard a guy at Home Depot say wood chunks don't matter for flavor
I was grabbing charcoal at Home Depot last Saturday and this dude in the BBQ aisle told his buddy that any old wood chunk works because the smoke flavor is mostly from the charcoal anyway. I almost butted in but kept walking. I've been using hickory and applewood for years and swear I can taste the difference. Anyone else think he was way off base or is there some truth to what he said?
