Spent $350 on a thermoworks signals and it saved my brisket from the stall monster

After three ruined flats last summer I bit the bullet on that fancy thermometer setup and now I actually sleep through overnight cooks instead of panicking every two hours, has anyone else had a gadget that paid for itself in meat saved?

$350 feels like a lot for something my instant read does for free every time...

That $350 price tag is hard to swallow when your instant read does the job just fine, @piperbailey. Most people i know have a hard time justifying the jump unless they're cooking seriously tricky stuff all the time. It really comes down to whether that extra speed matters enough to you.

120 bucks for a Thermopop is the sweet spot honestly. I mean the $350 one is cool if you have money burning a hole in your pocket but for most of us the regular instant read does the same thing with just a couple extra seconds. My cheap one has been going strong for years and I cook steaks, bread, all sorts of stuff. Unless you're doing complicated candy work or deep frying where every split second matters that extra speed is wasted. Saved more than enough by not upgrading to buy ingredients instead.
