Can we talk about the stat that 1 in 3 adults over 65 dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia?

Man that stat really hits hard when you think about it. I mean we all kind of know dementia is common in old age but 1 in 3 is way higher than most people realize. My grandmother had it and it was just so slow and cruel watching her fade away like that. Its not just about losing memories either its about losing the person they were before. The scary part is how many of us will probably end up in the same boat someday since we still dont have a cure or anything close to it. Makes you wonder what we can even do to slow it down besides hoping for the best.

Honestly my plan is just to eat a ton of blueberries and hope for the best lmao. My grandma had it too and it was brutal watching her forget who my dad was. I figure if I'm gonna go out that way I might as well enjoy the junk food while I can. But yeah Thomas you're probably right, I should probably start caring about my blood pressure more than my pizza intake. Maybe I'll compromise and just eat blueberries on top of my pizza or something. If that doesn't work at least I'll die happy.

Yeah I gotta disagree a bit here. There's actually a lot of solid research now showing that lifestyle stuff like keeping your blood pressure in check, staying active, and not smoking can cut your risk by like 40%. It's not a cure sure, but it's way more than just hoping for the best. My grandpa is 88 and sharp as a tack, he's been walking 3 miles a day for like 30 years and eats pretty clean. Obviously it's not guaranteed but I think people give up too easy on the things they can actually control.
