I just counted the number of times I've moved in my life

It's 14. I grew up military, so it was normal, but seeing that number written down felt heavy. Has anyone else hit a personal stat that made you pause?

Fourteen is a big number. Was there one move that was harder than the others, or did they all just sort of blend together after a while? That feeling when you actually write it down is something else.

The one when I was ten, from my first real house to a tiny apartment, hit different. All the others just blur into a montage of cardboard boxes and rental trucks. But writing them down made it real, like seeing a weird score for a game I didn't know I was playing. That list is just proof I'm terrible at putting down roots.

Honestly, that weird score feeling is so real. My mom kept a list of our moves in an old address book, and finding it as an adult was a trip. Tbh seeing "1998, third floor walk-up, leaky kitchen sink" in her handwriting made the whole blurry mess feel way too solid.

Yeah, that number hits different when you see it on paper. My family bounced around a lot too, and I finally counted all my moves last year. It was 11, and the weirdest part was realizing I couldn't remember half the street names.
