Losing track of family videos in endless digital folders
I put all our home videos on a cloud service to keep them safe. Now when I try to find clips from holidays, I get lost in a sea of files. The auto sort feature mixes everything up, and my own labels don't stick. It's so frustrating to click through folders for hours and still miss the moment I want. I thought digital would make memories easier to save, but it just hides them. This mess has me worried those times will fade for good. Maybe I should have stuck with DVDs or even written notes about each video. It's a wake up call to not rely only on tech for what matters.

My old photo app kept sorting by weird metadata dates instead of when I actually took pictures. Ended up with Christmas 2019 popping up between a random Tuesday in 2015 and my cousin's wedding. I had to go folder by folder to manually rename everything based on the real event, which took a whole weekend.

Check if you can turn off auto sort?

Auto sort seems handy until it randomly reorganizes everything. I've had it rearrange my files into a complete mess without warning. Turning it off usually means you can actually control where things go. It's one of those settings that causes more problems than it solves. The feature tries to help but often just gets in the way.

Wait you can turn auto sort off? I just assumed it was stuck like that forever. I've been living with my vacation videos from last year showing up between clips of my kid's first steps and some random footage of my lawn. The lawn! It decided a Tuesday when I filmed the grass was more important than his first birthday.
