My grandad's old toolbox comment is still sticking with me weeks later
Was helping my grandad clean out his garage last month and he pointed at his beat up Craftsman box and said 'that holds more memories than my wedding album.' Hit me different because he was a mechanic for 40 years and never really talked feelings. He started telling me about specific dents from dropping it in 1978 and a scratch from a job that paid for my mom's first bike. Made me wonder if the stuff we keep is just objects or if we're actually storing pieces of ourselves in them. Any of you got a thing like that where the scratches mean more than the surface?

Man, that hit me hard just reading it. Your grandad sounds like a real one - those old school guys don't say stuff like that lightly. The way he connected a dent to paying for your mom's first bike, that's not just a story, that's his whole life right there. I've got an old hammer from my dad that has a chip in the handle from when he built our first porch. Every time I see it, it's like I can hear him telling me to hold the nail steady. Those scratches and dents aren't damage, they're proof of a life lived.
