Spent $380 on a chest freezer in 2019 and it's the reason I remember my grandma's tamales
My grandma in San Antonio taught me her tamale recipe right before she passed in 2018, and I wrote everything down but lost the notebook in a move. Two years later I found a freezer bag in the back of my chest freezer with 6 tamales she made, still wrapped in her handwriting on the foil. I thawed one and cried in my kitchen because I had forgotten the exact smell of her masa. If I hadn't spent that $380 on a freezer for bulk meat back in 2019, those tamales would've been thrown out and that memory would be gone forever. Does anyone else keep random food from someone who passed just so you don't lose that smell?
