That Tuesday in March when my dog died and I got laid off on the same day
Came home from getting fired at noon to find my 14-year-old lab had passed in her sleep on the back porch. Still can't shake how quiet the house felt that night, like the world just stopped for a second.

You're calling that "brutal"? Finding someone upset after getting fired sounds pretty standard, not some tragic scene. People lose jobs all the time, it sucks but it's not like she got hit by a bus. Unless there's more to the story that we're not getting, I'd say this is just normal life stuff.
